  1. Create both a full flash image and a separate export of user data (bouquets, /etc/enigma2).
  2. Label images with device model, date, firmware version, and any notable plugin sets.
  3. Verify dumps (use checksums) and keep at least two copies in different locations.
  4. Test restores on a spare unit if possible before relying on them.
  5. When restoring to different hardware, remove or adapt hardware-specific configs (driver modules, tuner settings).
  6. Keep a recovery method ready: serial cable or recovery flash tool in case a restore fails.

A backup image (often referred to as a "Full Backup") is a complete snapshot of your receiver’s operating system at a specific moment in time. It captures the Enigma2 software, your personal settings, installed plugins, channel bouquets, and the driver configurations.
