Important Warning:
Many counterfeit PL-2303 chips exist. Since Windows 8/10, Prolific has deliberately broken drivers for counterfeit chips. If your adapter is fake, the driver will install but show Error 10 (This device cannot start) or Code 28 .
Why Do I Need to Update the U232 P9 Driver?
Advanced Settings (Latency): In Device Manager → Port Settings → Advanced → Set Latency Timer to 1 ms (for real-time data logging) or 16 ms (default for stability).
Recommendation:

- [ ] Identify your chip (Prolific PL2303 vs Silicon Labs).
- [ ] If Prolific, try official v1.14.0 driver first.
- [ ] If Code 10 appears, switch to legacy v3.3.2.102.
- [ ] Disable Windows 10 driver signature enforcement if needed.
- [ ] Set a static COM port (e.g., COM4).
- [ ] Test with a loopback connector (short pins 2 and 3 of the DB9).
