Performance is slow with WebP folders

  1. Storage costs: A 10,000-image database at 10MB per JPEG = 100GB. The same as WebP at 80% quality = ~25GB. ThumbsPlus lets you manage that compression visually.
  2. Metadata preservation: ThumbsPlus retains EXIF, IPTC, and XMP data during WebP conversion. Many converters strip this data; ThumbsPlus does not.
  3. Search speed: Because WebP files are smaller, ThumbsPlus loads thumbnails faster from a network drive than JPEGs of equivalent quality.
