To obtain and activate a new Stata license, you must use the official credentials provided by

1. On the old computer: Open Stata → File → Deactivate license.
2. On the new computer: Install Stata and enter your original serial number, code, and authorization.
3. Activate online.

Stata Standalone (Single-User) License

Verify Activation

: After entering your details, Stata will verify and activate your license. You should now have full access to Stata's features.

If you see "Student version" when you paid for "Stata/SE," uninstall immediately and contact support.

1. Serial number (12 digits)
2. Code (usually 4-8 characters)
3. Authorization (sometimes required for offline mode – leave blank if not provided)

Updates

: After activation, it is recommended to run update query in the command line to ensure you have the latest features.

Initialize Stata

: Open the application for the first time. An "Initialize License" dialog box will appear.
