Rockchip RK3229 is a legacy entry-level System-on-Chip (SoC) primarily designed for low-cost 4K TV boxes. While it originally launched with Android 4.4, subsequent firmware updates to Android 9.0 (Pie)
After scouring Chinese forums (4PDA, FreakTab, and Baidu Yun), these are the most stable Android 9.0 builds currently available. Rk3229 Android 9.0 Firmware
- A Male-to-Male USB A cable (Do not use a charging cable; it must support data).
- Rockchip Driver Assistant (v4.7 or newer).
- AndroidTool v2.58 (Rockchip’s official flashing utility for Windows).
- A paperclip or tweezers (for shorting the mask ROM pins if the device is bricked).
- Your specific PCB version (Open your TV box. Look for the board number, e.g.,
MXQ-SV6051-V3.0, X88-Pro-V1.2, or RK3229_D4_V1.0).
Step 2 – Enter Maskrom mode (essential for RK3229)
- Click Upgrade (not “Restore”).
- Wait 2–5 minutes.
- Box reboots automatically.
