Pokemon Fire Red Leaf Green Randomizer Rom Page
The Ultimate Guide to the Pokemon Fire Red & Leaf Green Randomizer ROM
Q: Can I transfer my randomized Pokémon to official games?
A: No. The randomizer breaks the checksum and legality flags. Trading will fail.
What is a Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen Randomizer?
- Open the randomizer and load your clean ROM.
- Choose randomization categories (recommended core set below).
- Save the randomized ROM under a new filename (keep original intact).
- Run the randomized ROM in emulator; start a new game (recommended) — old saves may be incompatible.
- If using cheat code patches or external scripts, apply via IPS before emulation.
You need:
- Go to File > Save Rom (or "Randomize (Save)" depending on the version).
- Name your new file something distinct, like
Pokemon FireRed Randomized.gba.
- Open your emulator (VBA-M or mGBA).
- Load the new
.gba file.
- Test it: Start a new game. Check your starters. Walk into the grass. If the first Pokémon you see is a Squirtle holding a Master Ball that knows Flamethrower, you have successfully randomized the game.
- No Poké Marts (only found items).
- No healing items in battle.
- Trainers have perfect IVs/EVs.
- Wild Pokémon are always higher level than you.
- Fix: In the randomizer, enable "Make HMs Teachable by Any Pokémon." This allows you to teach Cut to your Charizard or HM items to appear in more locations.
