RRR (March 25 - but dominated April): Directed by S.S. Rajamouli. Starring N.T. Rama Rao Jr. (Jr. NTR) and Ram Charan. This is the defining film of 2022. A fictional pre-Independence saga of two revolutionaries. The film collected over ₹1,200 crore worldwide. It won an Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Original Song ("Naatu Naatu"). It put Telugu cinema on the global map forever.
KGF: Chapter 2 (Telugu Dubbed) (April 14): While originally Kannada, the Telugu dubbed version broke records in Andhra and Telangana. Starring Yash, the film’s dialogue delivery and elevation scenes became a cultural phenomenon.
F3 (May 27): Starring Venkatesh and Varun Tej, directed by Anil Ravipudi. A sequel to F2, this slapstick comedy was a guaranteed family entertainer and a major commercial success, proving comedy had a huge market.
