To decode a JCB backhoe VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or serial number, you can use the structure of the 17-digit code to identify the machine's manufacture year and specifications. Character 4-6: Model Designation

• Right-hand side of the chassis (near front axle or engine mount)
• Inside the cab (on a plate near the seat or right door frame)
• On the loader frame (near the hydraulic control valve)
• On the backhoe subframe (left side, rear)
• On a metal plate under the engine hood (often on firewall)
