IW4x

Installing (a custom client for the 2009 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ) requires a base installation of the game and the addition of the modern launcher/client files. The process has evolved recently due to changes in hosting, but following these steps will get you set up for multiplayer or singleplayer. Quickstart Installation Guide

Step 3: Installing IW4x

  • It will download remaining assets automatically on first launch.

📥 Quick Install Steps

  • Click "Server List."
  • Sort by Players.
  • Look for "Nuketown," "Fast XP," or "Vanilla" servers.
  • Tip: Europa/NA East servers usually have the lowest ping for US players.
  • Follow iw4x release notes and community channels for updates. When a new iw4x version releases, backup your folder and re-extract the new client over the existing installation.
  • Keep your configs backed up: save key binds, sensitivity, and server favorites in a separate folder.

Controller Support

: IW4x supports controllers natively. If you use a PlayStation controller, you may need DS4Windows for better compatibility. iw4x install
