Install Team R2r Root Certificate New Patched Access
Introduction
Why is a new certificate required?
Older Team R2R certificates (from 2015-2020) have expired or have been flagged by antivirus definitions. The "new" certificate (often labeled R2R 2024 or R2R Extended) uses stronger 2048-bit or 4096-bit RSA encryption to avoid detection by Windows Defender and to work with macOS Ventura/Sonoma/Sequoia.
- Locate the Certificate: Find the
R2R.cer or R2R.crt file in your downloaded plugin folder.
- Double-click the file. This automatically opens the Keychain Access app.
- Choose Keychain: A dialog will pop up: "Keychain: (Login / System)". Select Login.
- Click Add. Now the certificate is in your keychain but not trusted yet.
- Find the Certificate: In Keychain Access, click on Login in the top-left list. Then click the Category called Certificates.
- Locate Team R2R: Look for the certificate named
Team R2R or R2R Root CA.
- Set Trust Level:

- Click Next.
- Click Browse, change the file type to "All Files (.)", and select your
Team_R2R.cer file.
- Click Next.
- Critical Step: Ensure "Place all certificates in the following store" is selected and the store reads Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click Next.
