The Good: Unit variety is solid. You get historical troops: Hastati, Principes, Triarii, Velites, Auxiliaries, and the classic war machines. Formations (testudo, wedge) matter more than in casual RTS games. The morale system means a flanked unit routs quickly.
The Mixed: The pathfinding is rough by modern standards. Legions will get stuck on rocks, and cavalry charges often miss because a single soldier clipped a tree. The AI is predictable – it will suicide its general if you bait it.
The Bad: The "rock-paper-scissors" balance is extreme. Spearmen annihilate cavalry instantly. Elephants are overpowered until they go berserk, at which point they destroy your own lines.
