Mastering FANUC LADDER III 9.5: The Technician’s Bridge to Modern PMC

“PMC Pack”

Version 9.5 can export a file ( .PMP ), which contains ladder, symbols, parameters, and I/O configuration. This single file is what machine tool builders ship with a new CNC.

  1. Connect: Communication > Connect > TCP/IP → Enter CNC IP.
  2. Upload: PMC > Upload to retrieve the current ladder from the CNC. Always upload first – never overwrite a working machine with an old file.
  3. Start Edit: Online > Start Editing. The software locks the target PMC section.
  4. Modify: Add/delete rungs. Use F6 (Insert Row), F7 (Delete Row).
  5. Compile: Online > Compile. The software checks for address conflicts.
  6. Download Changed Rungs: Online > Download Modified Rungs – this happens in milliseconds.
  7. Test: Use the Monitor pane to verify logic.
  8. End Edit: Online > End Editing (saves to CNC’s flash ROM).

Unlike general-purpose PLC software, LADDER-III is specifically tailored for FANUC’s proprietary PMC architecture embedded within CNCs (Series 0i, 30i/31i/32i, Power Motion i, etc.). It allows engineers to: fanuc ladder iii 9.5
