Step 4: Install the Barrier
- Dig small holes with a chopstick.
- Trim any dead or dying leaves off the plants first.
- Nestle the roots into the soil and gently cover.
- For moss, simply press it onto the soil surface.
Step 5: The Hardscape (Optional but Important)
Place a piece of dragon stone, lava rock, or driftwood. Hardscape creates microclimates—shady spots for moss and high perches for air circulation. Bottle Biosphere Guide
- Mold and fungus: If you notice mold or fungus growth, reduce watering and increase air circulation by gently opening the bottle for a short period.
- Pests: If you encounter pests, such as spider mites or mealybugs, treat the plants with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
- Plant decline: If plants begin to decline, check for signs of overwatering, underwatering, or nutrient deficiencies.
