Speed: BMW Scanner 1.4 communicates via a low-speed K-Line (9600 baud). On Windows 11, read times for all modules (approx 20 modules) will take 2-3 minutes – exactly the same as on Windows XP. No speed gain, but no loss either.
Stability: With the COM port forced and driver enforcement disabled, the software is surprisingly stable. We tested it on an E46 M3 (2004) and an E39 530i (2002). No crashes or data corruption occurred.
Limitations: You cannot run BMW Scanner 1.4 via a USB hub. It must be directly connected to a USB 2.0 port (USB 3.0 ports often work but are less reliable).
