Black Box | A330 Crack 12 2021 [portable]
Note on terminology:
In aviation maintenance, “black box” usually refers to the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR). However, in December 2021, a significant safety issue was identified not with the electronic internals of the recorders, but with the mounting bracket for the FDR on certain A330 aircraft. This report addresses that specific structural crack problem.

Clarifying "Crack" vs. "Crash"
- "Crack" might refer to a runway overrun (as with SQ324) or structural damage, not a catastrophic crash.
- No A330 crashes occurred on December 12, 2021, but minor incidents (e.g., bird strikes, runway excursions) may trigger black box investigations.
